Simple diffusion, is the process by which particles tend to move form an area where they are more concentrated into an area where they are less concentrated. Osmosis is the diffusion of water through a selectively permeable membrane. The water moves inside of the cell if the pressure of water outside is higher, to achieve equilibrium.
